Staying Cool This Summer

Due to the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, the Kanto region may have scheduled blackouts this summer.

The government has asked everyone to try to save electricity and keep demand down. This means most people will have to find ways to stay cool.

Let’s ask the Tanaka family for some advice.

How can we stay cool this summer?

The-Tanakas---EitaroWhen I was a child we didn’t have air conditioners. We just used a fan to keep ourselves cool. I think everyone should buy a fan.

The-Tanakas---EikoI don’t like hot summers. I think people should drink lots of cold drinks to stay refreshed and cool.

The-Tanakas---EiichiI think people should get a very short haircut. That will keep them cool.

The-Tanakas---EriPeople should leave the windows open all night. Put the bed closer to the window and that should help.

eitaI think we should take cold showers everyday.

The-Tanakas---EimiI think we should eat lots and lots of delicious ice cream to keep ourselves cool.
