Jane Austen Festival – Bath

Every September, the city of Bath holds a festival to celebrate its most famous resident, Jane Austen.

The festival usually lasts for 9 or 10 days from mid to late September.

A number of special events are held at The Jane Austen Centre, the Roman Baths, and other indoor and outdoor venues around the city.

There are tea parties, 18th century dance workshops, street fairs, costume parades, 18th century food and dining, walking tours, costume photography events, and live performances of Jane Austen dramas such as Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, and Emma.

Events usually start around 9am each morning and are held throughout the day until late evening.

The Jane Austen Festival was first held in 2001 and the festival has got more popular each year. In 2004, the costume parade featured just 30 people, however in 2013, the parade featured over 600 people!
