Wow! Japan’s ladies football team won the World Cup. What an amazing achievement!
It was a great competition and we enjoyed watching all the games…

I got up early and watched the Final game live. USA scored first and they looked so strong, I definitely thought they were going to win. Then, with about 8 minutes to go, Aya Miyama scored the equalising goal to take the game to extra-time! It was nearly time for me to go to work, but I decided to watch the first-half of extra-time at home. When USA scored again, I thought that the game was over. I got my briefcase and started driving to work.
I turned on the TV in my car and watched the second-half of extra-time while I was driving. When Honame Sawa scored with only 2 minutes left, I nearly crashed! I was so excited! I decided that it was too dangerous to keep driving, so I parked in a supermarket car park so I could watch the penalty shootout safely! Amazingly, USA missed 3 of their penalties and Japan won the penalty shootout 3-1!
I was 20 minutes late for work – but it was OK because my boss was late too! I think he had also been watching the game!
Eita
I watched the game live with my dad. I watched all of Japan’s games in the World Cup and they had played so well, so I thought they had a chance to win the Final. It was a really exciting game! I was really pleased when Sawa scored her goal, not only because it was the equaliser, but also because it meant she became the top scorer in the World Cup. It was her 5th goal, so she won the Golden Boot.
It’s the London Olympics next year and I think this Japan team has a great chance to win the gold medal.

I didn’t watch all of the game because I was too sleepy. I only watched extra time and the penalty shootout while I was eating my breakfast. I wore my white Japan shirt to support the team! My dad and Eita wore blue Japan shirts, but I don’t have a blue one because blue is for boys. I was so happy when Japan won. I love Honame Sawa! I want to play football like her when I grow up.
