This month Eita and Chris talk about World Cup 2018.
Are you looking forward to the World Cup Eita?
Yes, very much. Japan’s first game is against Colombia on Tuesday 19th June. I think it kicks off at 9pm Japan time, so we’ll be able to watch the game before going to bed!
England’s first game is against Tunisia on the same day, but I think it starts at about 3am in Japan.
Who do you think is going to win? I think the favourite must be Brazil, right?
Yes Brazil are probably the favourites, but France also have a very strong team. How about some outsiders?
Germany always seem to do well, and Argentina have Messi. How about England?
I don’t think England are good enough to win. I hope they can play well though. I think the dark horses might be Belgium, or maybe even Croatia this time.
Hopefully Japan will beat Colombia in the first game! I’ll keep my eye on Belgium too. Thanks for the tip!
Who are your dark horses Eita?
Senegal. They have some really good attacking players and they are the strongest African team. Unfortunately they are in Japan’s group. If Japan can beat Senegal, does that mean Japan become a dark horse too?
I suppose so. The winning team from England’s group will play the second placed team in Japan’s group in the next stage. Also the winners of Japan’s group will play the second placed team in England’s group in the next stage. That means there’s a chance England and Japan could play each other in the first knockout stage.
I didn’t realize that. England need to finish first in their group to avoid Japan then, because Japan are going to finish first!!
We will see. I hope England play Japan in the final on July 15th!
