The Tanaka family talk about the musical instruments they play.
When I was younger I used to play the taiko drums. I started playing when I was a university student. After I graduated, I joined a group and we performed at summer festivals. It was a lot of fun and I made many friends.
I started learning how to play the shamisen when I was a young girl. My mother taught me the basics. After learning the basics, I went to a teacher who lived in my neighbourhood. I practice every weekend at the local community centre. Sometimes I take part in performances.
I can play the electric guitar. I have been playing for about fifteen years now. It is just a hobby. I practice every Friday night after work.
I played the flute when I was younger. Since becoming a mother, I haven’t had time to practice. One day I want to start playing it again. The flute makes such a beautiful sound.
I have just started playing the acoustic guitar. I have lessons at school with some of my friends. We want to form a rock band and make an album! I could be famous one day! Playing the guitar is quite difficult and it sometimes hurts my fingers, but I want to keep it up so that I can play with my dad.
I don’t play any musical instruments, but I would like to take up learning the piano someday.
