This month Eita interviews Chris about his hobbies.
Part 1
Part 2
What are your hobbies?
I like watching and playing sports, watching films, reading books, and travelling.
What kind of sports do you like?
Well, my favourite sports are football and swimming, but I like watching rugby, athletics, golf and cricket too.
Do you do all those sports or just watch them?
I don’t have time to do them all! When I was a teenager I played for my local football team, and swam for my local swimming team. I did athletics and played rugby and cricket for my school team too. It was great fun!
So how often do you do sport now?
I try and go swimming once or twice a week, and I occasionally play football or futsal with my friends. I play golf a few times a year too.
Do you like baseball?
No not really, sorry! We don’t play baseball in England, so I never had chance to play it or watch it when I was younger. I suppose cricket is a bit like baseball, and cricket is very popular in England.
Do you like watching any traditional Japanese sports like Sumo, Judo or Kendo?
Yes, I really like watching Sumo. Many years ago I went to Tokyo to watch it when Musashimaru and Takanohana were both Yokozuna. I like watching Judo too during the Olympics because it’s a very exciting sport. I’ve never watched Kendo, or Karate, so I don’t really know about them. Matthew does Karate though, you should ask him about it next time!
I love football and I sometimes go to watch Tochigi SC with my dad. What is your favourite football team?
Liverpool is my favourite team. I’m a big fan so I watch all their games on TV! A few years ago they came to Japan to play some friendly games. I was lucky enough to get some tickets, so I went to Yokohama to watch the games.
It will be the London Olympics soon. Will you go back to England next summer?
I’d love to, but unfortunately I think the plane tickets will be too expensive next summer!
What sports or what events are you most looking forward to?
I love watching the Olympics, so I’m looking forward to so many things! The athletics and the swimming events are always good. The Great Britain cycling team and rowing teams are quite strong so I want to watch those events. Triathlon is always exciting and Great Britain will also have a football team this time, so that will be good too!
It sounds like you will be busy next summer!
Yes I think I will be. I’ll support the Japanese teams too, don’t worry!
